James R. Brantley

Of Blythe, GA , husband of Mattie Jane Clanton Brantley entered into rest 3:00 p.m. Thursday, March 10, 2011, at his residence. Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. Monday March 14, in the Lakeland Chapel of Music Funeral Services with Pastor Pete Barlow and Rev. Deran Hardeman officiating. Interment will follow in the Greenlawn Cemetery in Lakeland. Mr. Brantley was born in Sirmans, GA to the late John Gordon and Ludell Jackson Brantley. He was a retired US Army Vietnam veteran and a member of the Lakeland United Methodist Church and VFW Post 649. He was preceeded in death by his daughter Edith Denise Brantley and a sister, Peggy Merle Brantley Garrison. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son James M. Brantley and his wife Vickie of Ft. Drum, NY: sister Mary Linda Brantley Allen and her husband Jesse of Lakeland, GA; mother-in-law Edith "Beadie" Giddens of Lakeland and a number of nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Lakeland United Methodist Church 80 W. Main St Lakeland, GA 31635, or Camp Creek Baptist Church. The family will receive friends at Music Funeral Services Monday March 14, 2011 between 1:00 and 3:00 PM.
