James Carlton Brooks. Sr. – 83
Of Valdosta, GA passed away on Tuesday, October 4, 2016 at South Georgia Medical Center. He was born on August 13, 1933 in Lake Park, GA to the late Harvey Brooks and Nellie Bromlow Brooks Peters. He was a member of the St. Augustine Road Church of Christ. Mr. Brooks retired from the Valdosta Fire Department after over 33 years of service. Mr. Brooks loved fishing and was an avid Valdosta Wildcat fan who never missed a game until his health declined. He was a member of the Woodmen of the World where he enjoyed attending the meetings with his friends. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, James Carlton Brooks, Jr.
Survivors include his: Wife of 56 years, Betty Ann Brooks of Valdosta, GA; Son, Gary Brooks of Valdosta, GA; 3 Grandchildren, Lauren Brooks, Jamie Brooks and Michael Brooks; Sister & Brother-in-Law, Betty & Alton Beckton of Valdosta, GA and a number of nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, October 7, 2016 in the Valdosta Chapel of Music Funeral Services. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the American Cancer Society. Sympathy may be expressed online at www.musicfuneralservices.com . Music Funeral Services of Valdosta is serving the family.
