James Edward Dorneden – 78 of Valdosta, GA passed away peacefully on Monday January 6,2020 in his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on December 4, 1941 to thelateEdward and Annette McQuaid Dorneden. James was a veteran, who served 20 years intheUnited States Air Force. He was also a member of The Knights of Columbus. After his retirement, he worked as a traffic manager for TM Polyfilm. James enjoyed spending time his grandson, Jonathan, whom he lovingly referred to as “Dada”. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Marjorie Marshall; brothers, Bernard and Pat Dorneden; and Grandson, Jacob Miller.
James is survived by his wife of 53 years, Margaret Dorneden of Valdosta, GA; Daughter, Suzanne Miller (Jeff) of Panama City, FL; Son, Douglas Dorneden (Lorraine) of Hahira, GA; 7 Grandchildren: Jonathan, Heike, Michael, Mark, Matthew, Hope; 2 Great Grandchildren, Chole and Kaitlyn; 5 Brothers: Greg Dorneden, Stephen Dorneden, Joe Dorneden, Jerry Dorneden, Mark Dorneden; Sister, Cecile Mutch (Dennis); Numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service for Mr. Dorneden will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2020 @ 11:00 AM at St. Johns Catholic Church in Valdosta. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Military honors and interment will be rendered on Wednesday, January 15, 2020 @ 2:00 PM at Jacksonville National Cemetery in Jacksonville, FL.
