James E. Sirmans – 85

Of Hahira passed away Saturday, January 1, 2011 at the Langdale Hospice House after a brief illness. He was born on September 9, 1925 to the late Bruxie F. & Ruth McDonald Sirmans. He had lived in Hahira for most of his life. Mr. Sirmans served the Citizens of Valdosta and our Country in various areas. He served as Valdosta's 1st Fire Marshal for the Valdosta Fire Department and retired at the rank of Captain and worked with the Lowndes County Sheriff's Department as a Deputy. He served in the United States Navy during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Betty Sirmans.

Survivors Include: Daughter & Son-in-law, Rhonda & Steve Ezzell, Hahira, Son & Daughter-in-law, Don & Janice Sirmans, Hahira; Grandchildren: Jamie Pittman, Marie Benefield Jesse, and Jacob Sirmans; 2 Great Granddaughters: Lacie & Hallie Benefield; Sister & Brother-in-law, Judy & Terry Dubberly, Nebraska; Brother, William "Billy" Sirmans, Tennessee; Sister-in-law, Peggy Exum, Adel, GA; Brother-in-law, Omar Huff, Melrose, FL; Longtime Friend and Neighbor of the Family, Marie Webb, Hahira and a number of nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, January 4, 2001 at Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7:00 P.M. Monday night, January 3, 2011 at the funeral home.
