James Stephen Giddens

September 19, 1962 — September 18, 2025

Valdosta

James “Steve” Stephen Giddens, age 62, of Valdosta, GA, passed away on September 18, 2025. He was born on September 19, 1962, in Adel, GA, to James L. Giddens and Janice Mae Touchton.

James graduated from Lakeland High School, earning awards in architectural design. He later moved to Middlebury, IN, where he began working in manufacturing and met Karen Hudnell Lung. They married on February 14, 1986, and together welcomed two children, Amanda and Christopher. Although their union eventually ended in divorce, their children remained the greatest blessings of his life.

James was a man of many talents. He enjoyed woodworking, building furniture, windmills, and wishing wells before later beginning a career escorting and transporting RVs and mobile homes. He had a natural gift for making people laugh, and those who knew him will always remember his humor and lighthearted spirit. His greatest passion, however, was music. An avid guitarist, he once played in bands and found endless joy in his guitars, which held a special place in his heart. Music was not just a hobby, but something he loved to share with others.

Steve is survived by his two children, Amanda (Michael) Dunigan and Christopher Giddens; his brother, Scott (Jeannie) Giddens; and two sisters, Lisa (Jeff) Fingerle and Cheryl (Rick) McBride. He is also survived by eight grandchildren—Cherrish, Patience, Leeroy, Dexter, Murphy, Madelyn, Miles, and Zeppelin—and one great-grandchild, Grayson.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a baby sister; and a nephew. Though his worn and tired body has been laid to rest, his memory will never be forgotten.

The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the staff at SGMC Health for their compassionate care during this difficult time. Cremation will be carried out by Music Funeral Services and Azalea Crematory in Valdosta, GA. The family will gather for a private remembrance and burial will take place at a later date.
