James Lamar Hall, Sr. – 73 of Valdosta, Georgia – a great husband, father, and papa has gone to be with the Lord on October 6, 2020 at his home surrounded by family. He touched so many lives throughout his life time. He met a lot of good people during his painting career and was such a blessing with the singing ministry in church. Every time he sang the spirit would fill the church. People would cry and go to the alter at the sounds of the Lord in his voice. If you needed a friend – James was always there. He was born on April 22, 1947 in Ocilla, Georgia to the late Olif (Joiner) and Plemon Hall. James worked in the construction business most of his life and went on to own his own paint contracting business, Hall’s Painting. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his siblings: Willie B. Hall, Betty Jean Cowan, and Carroll L. Hall; and son-in-law, Dewayne Garner.
Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Barbara June Hall of Valdosta, GA; Children: James Lamar Hall, Jr. and wife Laurie of Valdosta, GA, Teresa Pierce and husband Wendell of Valdosta, GA, David Hall of Valdosta, GA, Lynn Wetherington of Valdosta, GA, Chris Williams of Killen, AL, Dusti Williams of Valdosta, GA; Sister, Christine Gaskins of Franklin, NC, 17 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; Special friend, Linda Barrentine.
Funeral services for James will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday October 9, 2020 in the Valdosta Chapel of Music Funeral Services. A burial will proceed in the Lax Cemetery of Lax, Georgia. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM on Thursday October 8, 2020 at the Funeral Home. Messages of sympathy may be left at
