James “Pops” William Herndon, Jr. – 87
Of Valdosta, GA passed away on August 5, 2019 at South Georgia Medical Center. He was born on May 17, 1932 in Stockton, GA to the late James and Winona (Williams) Herndon. Bill was a veteran of The United States Air Force. He was a life long member of the United Methodist church. Bill was employed at Owens-Illinois Paper Mill from January of 1954 until 1999. He was as an avid bird watcher, hunter, and loved spending time with his family.
Survivors include; Wife of 64 years, Opal Herndon; Daughters, Becky Sands (David) of Adel, GA, Kim Muller (Walter) of Valdosta, GA, Wendy Carraway (Robert) of Valdosta, GA; Grandchildren; Nick Sands of Barney, GA, Jonathan Sands of Adel, GA, Chris Muller of Valdosta, GA, Patrick Muller of Valdosta, GA, William Carraway of Del Rio, TX, Thomas Carraway (Kelsey) of Olympia, WA; Great Grandchildren, Brey Sands of Norman Park, GA, Livi Sands of Norman Park, GA; Brother, Robert Herndon of McRae, GA; Sister-In-Law Judy McCandless of Baton Rouge, LA; Brother-in-Law Gene Watson of Valdosta, GA.
A celebration of his life will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, August 8, 2019 in the Valdosta Chapel of Music Funeral Services with a burial to follow in Riverview Memorial Gardens.
