James "Jim" Cowan - 64
Of Valdosta passed away Monday, September 22, 2008 at his residence after a sudden illness. He was born June 5, 1944 in Brookville, PA to the late John & Anna Knapp Cowan. After serving in the United State Air Force he was employed with the Valdosta State Prison for 17 years. He was a member Azalea City Lodge # 716 and American Legion Post # 13 and was Baptist by faith.
Survivors include:Wife of 32 years, Betty Jean Cowan, Valdosta, GA, Daughters & Sons-in-law, Judy & William Barrett, Valdosta, GA, Joy & Dan Johnson, Valdosta, GA, Grandchildren:Shannon & Sherman Maine, Daniel & Iris Johnson, Brad & Margaret Johnson, and Todd Johnson, Sister & Brother-in-law, Yvonne & John Winkler, Knox, PA, A number of nieces and nephews
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, September 25, 2008 in the Valdosta Chapel of Music Funeral Services with burial to follow in Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Wednesday, September 24, 2008 at the funeral home.
