James “Jim” Alexander Waters, age 67, of Valdosta, Georgia passed away on July 10, 2024. He was born on November 12, 1956, in Memphis, Tennessee, to the late Mary Waters. Jim dedicated his career to helping others as an insurance agent, employed by Eversure Benefit Group and Prudential Insurance. His exceptional sales skills and genuine concern for his clients earned him not only their trust but also homemade treats in appreciation for his steadfast support in managing their finances and insurance needs.
Outside of work, Jim cherished his roles as a husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, finding profound joy in his family and his faith. He served as an elder at Azalea City Church of God for many years, exemplifying his commitment to his spiritual community. He was a passionate supporter of the Georgia Bulldogs football team and “Trump 2024”. He and his wife enjoyed traveling and trying new foods along the way.
Jim will be fondly remembered for his ability to weave captivating stories and his infectious joy that touched the lives of those around him. His legacy of compassion, dedication, and warmth will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know him.
Along with his parents, Jim is preceded in death by his daughter, Jessica Shaver, mother-in-law, Jewel Pafford, and father-in-law, Jody Pafford.
His survivors include his wife of 30 years, Debi Kent Waters of Valdosta, Georgia; daughter & son-in-law, Renee Spencer (Jeremy) of Monroe, Georgia; adopted daughters, Lexy Ethridge of Valdosta, Georgia and Grace Shaver of Valdosta, Georgia; grandchildren Alex Spencer of Alpharetta, Georgia, Thomas Spencer (Cheyenne) of Jacksonville, Florida; great grandchild, Raelynn Ethridge of Valdosta, GA; sister, Chris Porchiazzo (Vince) of Starke, Florida; brother, Rowdy Waters (Libby) of Lake City, Florida, brother-in-law, Sammie Kent of Lake Park, Georgia; nephew, Richard Kent of Valdosta, GA; half-brother, Walter Parsons of Tennessee, Jay Parsons of Orlando, Florida; half-sisters, Melanie Smith of St. Mary’s, Georgia, Jennifer Parsons-Licht of Oregon and numerous nephews, nieces and extended family.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 PM on Saturday July 13, 2024, at The Azalea City Church of God, 247 St. Augustine Rd., Valdosta, GA 31601 with burial following in Riverview Memorial Gardens.
