James Traynor Jr. – 88 of Valdosta, GA laid his earthy burdens down on Thursday, July 25, 2024, at his residence. He was born on January 21, 1936, in Fall River, MA to the late James Traynor Sr. and Marjorie Corriea. James was a retired member of the United States Air Force, where he served as a heavy equipment operator. He was an exceptional member of his community as he was a member of the American Legion Post 13, American Legion Auxiliary Unit 13, VFW Post 1777, and the Peace Officers Association of Georgia. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his son Randy Edward Joiner; daughter, Shirley Ann Colvin; first wife, Ruby Brogdon; grandson, Richard “Ricky” Roper; sisters: Dianne Stoddard and Valerie Traynor.
His survivors include his wife, Henrietta Grace Traynor of Valdosta, Georgia; daughter and son- in-law, Vicki Brantley (Gilbert “Goose”) of Valdosta, Georgia; grandsons: James “Clay” Roper of Roy, Utah, Daniel Joiner (Jennifer) of Albany, Georgia; granddaughter, Lisa Roper of California; granddaughter, Haley Harris (Chad) of Plains, Georgia; great grandsons: Michael Buckingham of California, Christopher Buckingham (Stephanie) of California, Maddox Joiner of Albany, Georgia, Holden Harris of Plains, Georgia; great granddaughters: Cheyenne Roper of Stewarts Draft, Virginia, Morgan Roper of Utah, Henley Harris; great-great grandchildren: Dylan Ellis, Caden Spaid, Jaxon Buckingham, Addison Buckingham, McKenzie Buckingham; special friends, Richard “Rap” (JoAnne) Brown, Elsie Crain, Phil (Von) Youngblood, R.D. and Sandra Martin, Rod (Brenda) Pedersen, Candy from ICU at South GA Medical Center, and Justin York; devoted friends: Bailey Traynor “Dog” and Py “Cat”
A funeral service for Mr. Traynor will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, in the chapel of Music Funeral Services in Valdosta. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service for visitation. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent to Shiners, St. Jude, or Presbyterian Break Bread.
