James Richard “J.R.” Jackson – 74
Of Sarasota, Florida passed away on Wednesday, November 29, 2023 surrounded by his loving family at the Fellowship Home at Brookside. He was born on June 17, 1949 in Miami, Florida to the late Richard Crawford Jackson and Juanita Irene (Washington) Jackson. J.R. joined the United States Air Force as an Aircraft Maintenance Specialist. After his honorable discharge, he went to work with Florida Power and Light as a lineman in Miami, Florida and went on to retire as the meter shop foreman in Sarasota, Florida. He was an avid hunter, outdoorsman and enjoyed spending time with his friends at their hunting camp in Edison, Georgia. He was a member of the Everglades Sportsman Club which was established by his uncles. He was featured in the Miami Herald for saving his mother in a boating accident when he was just 6 years old. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his nephew, Ricky Henderson and son-in-law, Tim Register.
Survivors include his daughter, Amy Johnson of Patterson, Georgia; daughter, Brenda Register of Valdosta, Georgia; sister, Linda Henderson of Ft. Myers, Florida; grandchildren: Tori Joyal (Brad), Grant Register (Nicole), Kelly Cribbs, Kasie Johnson (Chelsie Hurren); 5 great grandchildren;
