James Marion Gaskins, 79,
of Berrien County, passed away Tuesday evening, April 25, 2006, at the Louis Smith Memorial Hospital, in Lakeland, Ga. Mr. Gaskins was the oldest son of the late Rev. Roy and Clara Mae Gaskins of Berrien County. He was born March 1, 1927, in Berrien County. He was a retired welder. He was a member of Pleasant Way Baptist Church in Lowndes County.
Survivors include: wife, Charlene Gaskins, Douglas, Ga.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Shirley and Mike Clack, Pitts, Ga., Judy and George Gill, Leesburg, Ga.; stepson and daughter-in-law, Christopher and Amy Ferris Douglas, Ga.; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Gene and Betty Ruth Gaskins, Naylor, Ga., Bennie and Barbara Gaskins, Bridgeboro, Ga.; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 28, 2006, in Pleasant Way Baptist Church, Lakeland-Valdosta Highway, with burial following the service at the church cemetery. Rev. Bill Watson will officiate.
