James David May, 77, of Valdosta, GA passed away on Tuesday, December 26, 2023, at his residence . James was born on December 20, 1946 in Elliott, KY to Lee and Christine Adkins May. James devoted 23 years to serving his country in the United States Air Force where he was awarded numerous decorations, medals, and badges such as: Meritorious Service Medal, AF Commendation Medal with 3 devices, AF Achievement Medal, AF Outstanding unit Award with Valor and 3 devices, AF Organizational Excellence Award, AF Good Conduct medal with 5 devices, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with 3 devices, AF Overseas Short Tour Ribbon, AF Overseas Long Tour Ribbon, AF Longevity Service Award Ribbon with 3 devices, NCO Professional Military Education Graduate Ribbon, Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon, AF Training Ribbon Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with device, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal. After retirement, he served 39 years working for Insta-Lube. He is preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife of 3 years, Judith Ann May of Valdosta, GA; son, Jamie May of Kentucky; daughter Amy Klosson (David) or Oregon; stepchildren, Amanda Ginchereau of Jacksonville, FL, Richard Gaeta (Stephanie) of Philadelphia, PA, Mindy Griner (Clay) of Valdosta, GA; grandchildren and step grandchildren, Sabrina Swanson (Jordan) of Oregon, Ellie Griner of Valdosta, GA, Mary Katherine Griner of Valdosta, GA, Thomas Griner of Valdosta, Collin Ginchereau of Tallahassee, Fl, Luke Ginchereau of Ochlocknee, GA, Blake Gaeta of Philadelphia, PA; 5 great grandchildren; two brothers, Michael Spark (Annette) of South Portsmouth, KY, Perry May of Piedmont, OH; sister Alice May Smith of Ashland, KY, and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family
