Of Valdosta, Georgia passed away on Saturday, July 8, 2023, at The Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Lake City, Florida. James was born on September 11, 1937, to the late William Joel Ricks and Lillie Mae Pope Ricks in Moultrie Georgia. James was a veteran of the US Navy. In Mr. James loved his grandchildren, traveling in his RV, ballroom dancing, animals, eating, burning trash and was an avid Atlanta braves and Flacons fan; along with watching the show Shark Tank. James also loved Classic cars; especially Cadillac’s.
Survivors include: Wife of 14 years, Kharen Ricks of Valdosta, Georgia; 2 sons, Toby James Ricks of Panama City Beach, Florida; Steven Joel Ricks of Doerun, Georgia, 1 Daughter And Son in law, Melissa Marie Russell (Jimmy) of Atlanta, Georgia, 4 Grandchildren: Kayla, Dylan, Steven and Aiden, 3 Great Grandchildren; Ava, Cambria and Ariel, several nieces, nephews, and extended family members and caretaker; Ebony Copeland of Valdosta, Georgia. James is preceded in death along with his Parents, Sister; Delphy Lane, Brother Julius Ricks, Sister; Virginia Edge, Sister; Lorece Taylor, Brother; Andrew James Ricks, Sister; Johnnie Lassiter, Sister; Madelyn Cheek.
As per Mr. James wishes he will be cremated and the Family will have a Celebration of Life service at the Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
