James Earl Roberson – 70
Of Naylor, Georgia passed away on Tuesday, October 17, 2023 at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia. He was born on October 16, 1953 in Jacksonville, Florida to the late George Dewey Roberson and Eloise (Walden) Roberson. He was the Superintendent of the wastewater treatment plant at Mud Creek for the City of Valdosta where he retired after 32 years. He had a passion for being outdoors hunting and fishing. He was a member of the Valdosta Bass Masters and Arabia Bay Hunting Club. He loved his family unconditionally. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Ella Silcox and great grandson, Braxton Daniels.
Survivors include his wife, Sara Roberson of Lakeland, Georgia; daughter, Virginia Wood (James) of Macclenny, Florida; son, Robby Stegeman (Angie) of Valdosta, Georgia; daughter, Shelly Shaw (Nathan) of Valdosta, Georgia; son, J.R. Roberson (Amanda) of Lakeland, Georgia; son, George Metts (Tonya) of Lakeland, Georgia; grandchildren: Tori Godwin, Taylor Stegeman, Tiffani Surles (Justin), Tyler Stegeman, Hunter Shaw, Sierra Shaw, Hannah Collins, Shane Daniels, Cole Metts, Wyatt Metts; great grandchildren: Alston Givens, Alyssa Givens, Aiden Givens, Elena Mathis, Emma Mathis, Leighton Surles, Everlee Surles, Gabriel Collins, Ryleigh Fender; sister, Jessie Harvey of Sanderson, Florida; sister, Annette Myers of Sanderson, Florida; brother, George Julian Roberson of Lakeland, Georgia; brother, Ronnie Roberson of Middleburg, Florida; special cousins: Donnie Sharpe and Donald Sharpe; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, October 20, 2023 at First Baptist Church of Lakeland. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM on Friday, October 20, 2023 at the church.
