James Howard "Junk" Terry, Sr., 77, of Valdosta, GA passed away on Wednesday, September 27, 2023, at home surrounded by his family. James was born on August 24, 1946 in Valdosta, GA to Lonnie and Corena White Terry. A beloved husband, father, brother, and most importantly, Poppie or Poppa T. Over 50 years, many miles, and several states were spent behind a wheel of a semi truck as a professional truck driver. His love for everyone was shown through his acts of service which included everyone's lawn care or being everyone's granddaddy. He could be found fishing at the bank of a pond or in a chair on the front porch, as long as it was outside. He loved a good western or an episode of cops, often watching the same one over and over. He is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Benny "Blue Rebel" Terry, Bobby "Mud Slinger" Terry, Robbie Harrelson, Buddy Terry, Sr., sister Virginia Eunice, and son in law, Gary "Jawbreaker" Bennett.
He is survived by his loving wife of 9 years, Wanda Terry of Valdosta, GA; four daughters, Tracy "Lady T" Vega and fiancé Leon Myles of Valdosta, GA, Jessica Bennett and fiancé Marvin Lucas of Dasher, GA, Melba Manac of Lake Park, GA, Felicia O'Berry and husband DeWayne of Lake Park, GA; two sons, James Howard Terry Jr. and wife Diana of Valdosta, GA, Jimmy Ray Moore of Valdosta, GA; 17 grandchildren, Tasha Thompson, Sheala Stafford, Dana Hull, Patrick Terry, Alesa Bennett, Cobi Edmonds, Eli Bennett, Kai Bennett, Cheyenne Bennett, AnnElise Snellgrove, Alyssa Tiner, Rachel Hester, Calvin Manac, Sierra O'Berry, Jordan Moore, Josh Moore, Mikayla Moore, Milia Moore, 22 great grandchildren, brothers, Troy "Double T" Terry, Ed Hutchinson and wife Jean, sister, Pauline Lucas and husband John, 5 children and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren from a previous marriage, Victoria Plott and husband Lee and children, Evelynn Propes, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A funeral ceremony will be held at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, October 3, 2023, at Music Funeral Services of Valdosta with burial to follow in Wayfare Cemetery.
