James "Roy" Thornton

James “Roy” Thornton – 74 of Lakeland, Georgia passed away on Monday October 19, 2020 in the South Georgia Medical Center – Lanier Campus. He was born on May 1, 1946 in Lakeland, Georgia to the late Hazel Brogdon Plair and the late William David Thornton. Roy was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He enjoyed singing at church. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Jean T. Brown and brother, Dennis Thornton.
Survivors include his loving wife of 55 years, Beatrice C. Thornton of Lakeland, GA; Children: Johnny Stanfield of Lakeland, GA, Diane Stanfield and companion, Tony of Lakeland, GA, Debra T. Wilkerson and husband, Jerry of Lakeland, GA; Grandchildren: Amber, Lynsey, Jessica; Great Grandchildren: Gracelyn, Lane, Jace, Lileah, Corris, Mackenzie; Brother, Russell Thornton and wife, Mary Lou of Lakeland, GA.
Services for Roy will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday October 22, 2020 in Southside Baptist Church, Lakeland, Georgia. Interment will follow in the Empire Cemetery in Lanier County, Georgia. Visitation will be held Thursday, October 22, 2020 from 12:00 Noon until 1:45 PM Southside Baptist Church. Messages of sympathy can be left at www.musicfuneralservices.com .
