James Dariel Tomlinson

August 11, 1946 — August 7, 2025

James Dariel Tomlinson, 78, of Lake Park, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 7, 2025, at Langdale Hospice House. Born on August 11, 1946, in Hahira, Georgia, he was the son of the late James Leonard Tomlinson and Mary Jane Tomlinson.
James was a dedicated and hardworking man who spent much of his life serving his community and providing for his family. He began his career as a salesman with Coca-Cola and later became a road superintendent with the Lowndes County Road Department. After retirement, his strong work ethic led him to start his own land clearing business, which he operated with pride and passion.
James had a lifelong love for tractors and found great joy in working with them. Whether tending to land or simply enjoying a ride, he was happiest when behind the wheel. Above all else, his greatest joy came from the time he spent with his family. He cherished every moment shared with them and held his loved ones close to his heart.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by sister, Diane White and step brother, John.
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Linda Tomlinson of Lake Park, Georgia; children: James Darrin Tomlinson (Barbara) of Lake Park, Georgia, Linda Kay Marcatos of Stockton, Georgia and Bill Tomlinson (Kimberly) of Lake Park, Georgia; grandchildren: Michael Tomlinson (Brooklyn), Dylan Marcatos (Miranda) and Gavin Tomlinson; great grandchildren: Kayelynn, Clayton, Landon, Lizzy, Madison, James and Corbin; sister, Ilene Jackson (Jim) of Crestview, Florida; step siblings: Joann, Willene, Bosco and Shane; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, August 10, 2025 at Francis Lake Baptist Church with burial to follow in Gray Cemetery, Lake Park, Echols County, Georgia.
