James "Ray" Waller, Jr. – 80
Of Valdosta passed away Tuesday, December 2, 2008 in South Georgia Medical Center after a lengthy illness. He was born in Harrison, GA on May 14, 1928 to the late James Ray, Sr. & Annie Ruth Brantley Waller. He was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Waller entered the United States Marines where he served for 9 years. He then transferred to the United States Air Force where he retired as MSGT after 22 years of total service. After retiring from the military he worked with Texture Tex for 10 years. Ray and his wife, Carol owned and operated Shan's Bait & Tackle which they ran for more than 15 years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Carol Waller and brother, Gerald Waller.
Survivors include:Sons & Daughter-in-laws, Brant & Cindy Waller, Valdosta, GA, Bruce & Kathy Waller, Centerville, GA, Grandchildren: Brandon Waller, Emily Waller, Abigail Waller, and Amanda Waller, Sister, Jeanene Fender, Valdosta, GA, Brothers & Sisters-in-law, David & Sharon Waller, Valdosta, GA, Glen & Rabun Waller, Harrison, GA, Terry & Julie Waller, Cottonton, AL
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, December 5, 2008 in the Valdosta Chapel of Music Funeral Services with Rev. Willie Beasley officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Gardens where full military honors will be rendered. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Thursday, December 4, 2008 at the funeral home.
