James Edwin "Dump" Watson-79

Of Lakeland Ga. passed away Friday November 7, 2014 at his residence. He was born on August 3, 1935 to the late L.C. Watson and Lena Burkhalter Watson. He was a member of Pleasant Way Baptist Church. He served 20 years in the United States Air Force from 1954 to 1974. After retirement from the Air Force he was employed at Valdosta State College as an Investigator from 1974 to 1980. He also served as Sheriff of Lanier County from 1981 to 1988. After that he worked for the State of Georgia Department of Corrections Valdosta Probation Division from 1989 to 1999. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sisters, Mary Wilma Royals, Barbara Ann Watson and brother, Robert Earl "Buke" Watson.

Watson, Naylor, GA, Jerry & Rhonda Watson, Lakeland, GA; Grandson: Anthony Watson, Baltimore, Maryland; 2 Granddaughters: Jennifer Watson, Naylor, GA and Tabitha Watson, Lakeland, GA; Great Grandchildren: Ariel Vasquez, Octavio Vasquez, Cameron Watson, Colton Watson, Karley Watson, Katie Mae Watson; Sisters & Brother-in-law : Marie Gyr, Naylor, GA, Carolyn & Wayne Faulkner, Lakeland, GA, Linda Donaldson, Nashville, GA, Dorothy Warren, Nashville, GA; Brothers & Sisters-in-law, Clarence "Midge" Watson, Lakeland, GA, Dewayne "Bud" Watson, Lakeland, GA, Dennis & Betty Watson, Lakeland, GA and Willie L. "Bill" & Ruthie Watson, Naylor, GA.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, November 10, 2014 in the Pleasant Way Baptist Church in Lowndes County, GA with burial to follow in Empire Cemetery in Lanier County, GA where full military honors will be rendered. His brother, Rev. Bill Watson will be officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services on Monday. At his request please no flowers make donations to the Georgia Sheriff's Boy's Ranch, 5671 Ga Highway 122 E., Hahira, GA 31632 or Pleasant Way Baptist Church, 4340 Lakeland Highway, Naylor, GA 31641.
