James Reid Yeargan, 71, of Valdosta, Georgia, passed away on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, at Langdale Hospice House. Born on February 27, 1953, in Jesup, Georgia, he was the son of the late Robert Oran Yeargan and Eula Jean Narramore Yeargan. He was a proud graduate of Wayne County High School, Class of 1971. Following his high school years, Reid dedicated himself to serving his country with honor in the United States Air Force for 20 years, ultimately retiring with the esteemed rank of Master Sergeant. His commitment to service didn’t end there; after his military career, he transitioned into a successful civilian role as a lab technician with Erco, where he devoted 26 years of his life, contributing greatly to the company’s success before retiring. A passionate musician, Reid was a member of the "Lost Dogs Found" band and was recently inducted into the Georgia Country Music Hall of Fame. He had a deep love for motorcycles and was known for his thrill-seeking spirit, always eager to go fast. As a member of the Concours Owners Group and Ole Spokes Club, he enjoyed being a part of the motorcycle community. His fascination with aviation and his continual desire to learn about it reflected his adventurous nature. Reid also enjoyed playing golf. In addition to his parents, Reid is preceded in death by his brother, Robert Yeargan, and his sister, Jeanine Yeargan. Survivors include his loving and devoted wife of 50 years, Joni Yeargan of Valdosta, Georgia; sons and daughters-in-law, Jon Yeargan (Jamie) of Tallahassee, Florida, and Ben Yeargan (Alycia) of Daytona, Florida; brothers and sisters-in-law, Joe Yeargan (Patty) of Jesup, Georgia, and Bert Yeargan (Frances) of Jesup, Georgia; grandchildren, Sam and Jill; a favorite pet, Molly; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at Hahira Community Church, Hahira, Georgia. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at the church.
