Of Warwick, Georgia passed away on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at Fellowship Home at Brookside. She was born to the late Juanita Harpe Pitts and Benjamin Felder Pitts in Vienna, Georgia on September 13, 1952. Janet embraced life with an open heart and a multitude of passions. Among her greatest loves was music, with the Eagles, Elvis Presley, and the Beatles holding special places in her playlist. A gifted crocheter, she poured her creativity into crafting blankets and baby shoes, eagerly anticipating the arrival of new family members. Known for her sharp wit and fervent interest in politics, Janet engaged in spirited discussions that showcased her passion for the world around her.
In her later years, traveling became a source of immense joy, allowing her to immerse herself in diverse cultures and create lasting memories. Her love for cooking was evident in the family gatherings she orchestrated, where her leadership skills shone as she brought everyone together. For over 35 years, Janet served as a dedicated postal carrier, forging friendships along her routes and leaving a lasting impact on the community.
Janet cherished the moments spent with her many friends, often planning her next adventure or sharing laughter over good food. As a devoted mother, she rarely missed her children’s baseball, softball, and football games, where she kept score, filmed their triumphs, and provided unwavering support. Her two dogs, Wally and Wilbur, were also part of her family, often treated to surprises during her shopping trips.
Above all, Janet’s greatest pride was her role as a mama and nana to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of the many friends and family members fortunate enough to have known her. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, Ronald F. Pitts.
