Jarred Shane Woodruff was born in Valdosta, Georgia, June 3, 1994, and died in Augusta, Georgia, at East Central Regional Hospital on October 28, 2025. He was blessed to grow up in a large, multi-generational family of grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins with whom he enjoyed many gatherings through the years. There were road trips, annual snow skiing vacations, and Disney cruises with his immediate family. An adventurous, caring, and curious child, Jarred loved skiing the advanced Black Diamond Trails in Colorado as well as finding frogs and listening to music.
Jarred’s family remembers his bright creativity, clever sense of humor, and his gentle smile. He listened to others non judgmentally, often offering an encouraging word or scripture. Throughout his childhood and teenage years, he was actively involved with Park Avenue Church’s weekly youth groups and empowering others through his involvement with the South Georgia Chrysalis program. Jarred believed and followed in his faith.
A graduate of Valdosta High School, Jarred was an outstanding student, teammate, and friend. He was able to channel his high energy and utilize his tactical mind to succeed as a Valdosta High Wildcat Varsity Soccer Player and Cross Country Runner. After graduating Valdosta High, he attended the University of Georgia in Athens, Georgia, and Georgia Southern University in Statesboro, Georgia. It was during these years that Jarred’s passion for music grew. Jarred was a self-taught acoustic and electric guitarist. He found music a rewarding avenue for expressing not only his talent, but also his sensitivity and vulnerability.
Jarred is survived by his mother, Robyn Rainwater West (Chad); father, Michael Woodruff (Glyniss); brother, Blake Woodruff; grandmother, Brenda Thrasher; his aunt, Jamie (Sassy) Rainwater Eager; and uncle, Dane Woodruff.
Jarred was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Randall and Hellen Moore Woodruff; maternal grandfather, James H. (Jimmy) Rainwater. Also preceding him in death were two adoring childhood Bassett Hounds, Kerby and Daisy.
“Goodbye may seem forever, farewell is like the end. But in my heart's a memory, and there you'll always be.” -Disney’s The Fox and the Hound
