Jeffrey Clark “Jeff” Hamer – 66
Of Valdosta, Georgia, left this life on May 9, 2022, after a courageous battle against lung cancer. He was born on March 28, 1956, to the late Jim and June Hamer of Valdosta, Georgia. Jeff was both sociable and fiercely independent – a man of his owns means who traveled the world and whose zest for life revealed his belief that life was a blessing not to be wasted. Jeff was loyal to friends and family and was the best friend a dog ever had. He was an avid “scratch” golfer who often came home better because of a friendly betting day on the links. He was a smoking hot blues guitarist whose licks have been compared to Leslie West of Mountain and Stevie Ray Vaughan. Jeff played guitar and sang in a band called Gun Smoke, as well as CBO Clouds. He can be heard on the Billy Bruce Album “Future Comes Early,” blasting lead on “Troup Street Blues.” Jeff also worked sound for the Montana band of Valdosta. Jeff's wit and side-splitting humor left many rolling about the room, usually taking several minutes before full recovery. While working for the rock concert merchandising firm Great Southern Company (1983-1994), Jeff traveled the world seeing the sights in London, Belgium, Sweden, Ireland, Germany, France, Scotland, Amsterdam, and the Netherlands. He was friends with Jon Bon Jovi and crossed paths with everyone from Ian Anderson of Jethro Tull to Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin. Others locally will remember sharing time with Jeff when he made deliveries for Community Coffee and pizza, too. Jeff was a man of faith and believed in the Lord.
In addition to his parents, Jeff was preceded in death by his wife Tina Hamer; sisters: Pam Schulke, Joan Heckler, and Bobbi Parish; niece Natalie Choate; and his pride and joy “Tillman”, his dog.
He is survived by his nephews: Jason (Heather) Bennett and their children Luke and Kaylee; Justin (Alecia) Bennett and their daughter Mckenna; John (Patty Ann) Schulke; Ray (Simone) Kalmar and their children Ray II, Alisa, Malia and Olivia; Steve Schulke and his children Ethan and Amber; Collin (Felicia) Choate; Nathan Choate; brothers-in-law: Duane Schulke and Eric Heckler; and step daughter: Theresa Constantino.
