Jerald Eugene Ensminger – 86
Of Valdosta, Georgia passed away on Monday, January 25, 2021 in his home after an illness. He was born on November 30, 1934 in Milton, Iowa to the late Neva Edna (Peel) and Iliff Howard Ensminger. After graduating high school, Jerald joined the United States Navy and served from 1953-1957. After his service, he went on to attend Parsons University and graduated in 1961 with a chemical engineering degree. In the same year, he went on to marry the love of his life, Joyce Ann Rieke. Jerald achieved his goals and went on to have an outstanding career in the engineering field. He worked for many years at the Honeywell Corporation before moving up to Vice President of Truth Hardware Company. In his later years, he taught statistics at Mankato State University. Jerald’s greatest love and accomplishment was the beautiful family he created with his wife. Being with his family and spending time outdoors, as well as hunting were some of his favorite hobbies. He was also a long-time member of Crossroads Baptist Church. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his siblings: Bill Ensminger; Lois Crawford, and Robert Ensminger.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Joyce Ensminger of Valdosta, GA; Children: Anne Christian of Valdosta, Eric Ensminger of Mequon WI, Chris Ensminger and wife, Darci of Bondurant, IA; Grandchildren: Kaitlin Aufenthie, Julia Aufenthie, Bailey Ensminger, Isaac Ensminger, Neva Ensminger; Siblings: Wanda Tyrrel and Sandra Raines (Tom); Numerous nieces and nephews and Best Friend, Eddie Hagan of Valdosta.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, January 28, 2021 at Crossroads Baptist Church in Valdosta. The family asks that masks be worn at all times and social distancing be practiced.
