Jerrold “Jerry” Lazarus - 87
of the Ousley Community passed away at his residence on Monday, September 16, 2019 after a short illness. He was born in Stamford, CT on December 3, 1931 to the late Max and Evelyn Lazarus. He was a Mason and was a member of the Roosevelt Lodge Number 130. Jerry was a business owner for many years in various industries prior to his retirement. Jerry served his country as a member of the Armed forces serving during the Korean Conflict as a member of the U. S Army. Jerry will be remembered for his love of good friends, good food, a great book and volunteering countless hours with Bethany Hospice. Along with his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by a brother Donald Lazarus, a daughter Jan Murphy and his first wife Barbara Lazarus.
Survivors include: Wife, Latricia “Tricia” Lazarus, Valdosta, Georgia;
2 Daughters and Sons-in-Law, Susan and Steven Lepore, Wyomissing, PA,
Cori and Hal Search, Asheville, NC ; Brother, Morton Lazarus, Cornelius, NC; 5 Grandchildren, Joshua, Rebecca, Kevin, Samantha and Zachary; 8 “Fur Babies”, Alfie, Joline, Ruby, Freddie, Pixie Rose, Nosy Rosey, Houdini and Bella; and a number of nieces, nephews and friends.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff of the Thomasville office of Bethany Hospice for their love and support during Jerry’s illness. The family requests that memorials be made in Jerry’s memory to one of the following: Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (panCAN.org) or USA Team Rescue c/o Jodi Brannen 3932 Kelly Way Valdosta, GA 31602 and that no flowers be sent. As per his wishes, memorialization will be by cremation and a private memorial service will be held at a later date. The Lazarus family is being served by the compassionate and caring staff of Music Funeral Services/Azalea Crematory of Valdosta.
