Jimmie Lee Herndon- 82
Of Lakeland passed away on Saturday, November 04, 2006 at her residence after a lengthy illness. She was born August 12, 1924 in Clinch County, Georgia to the late Lucious Henry & Isabella Richardson Lee. She was the youngest of seven children and a homemaker by trade. She was a member of the Lakeland United Methodist Church for over 50 years, having served as United Methodist Womens President, member of the Administrative Board, Chancel Choir, Worship Committee Chairperson, Sunday School Teacher, Homecoming Chairperson, member of the Ruby Berryhill Circle and on numerous other committees in the church. She was an active lady in the community, serving on the LILA Lets Improve Laniers Appearance Committee and past president of the Louis Smith Memorial Hospital Pink Ladies Auxiliary. She reached out to many children in the church and community as an honorary Grandmother. She is preceded in death by a daughter, Carolyn Herndon Pelham of Fitzgerald, Georgia, two brothers W. J. Moogie Lee and Chester Lee and four sisters Mrs. Lessie Mae Lee Fields, Mrs. Irma Lee Ganas, Mrs. Amanda Lee Williams, and Mrs. Georgia Lee Pafford.
Survivors include: Husband of 64 years, Arthur Herndon, Jr., Lakeland, Ga., Daughter, Wynn Herndon, Valdosta, Ga., Son & Daughter-in-law, James Lee & Cindy Herndon, Lakeland, Ga., Son, Jackie Herndon, Lakeland, Ga., Son-in-law, Bill Pelham, Fitzgerald, Ga., Brother & Sister-in-law, Henry Son & Marjorie Lee, Jasper, Fl., 9 Grandchildren, 15 Great-Grandchildren and Several Nieces and Nephews
Funeral services were held, Monday, November 06, 2006 at 2:00 PM at the Lakeland United Methodist Church. Burial followed in the Arabia Cemetery in Clinch County. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Lakeland United Methodist Church or South Georgia Medical Center Langdale Hospice House.
