Jimmy F. "Sonny" Cowart – 80
Of Lakeland passed away Saturday, November 08, 2014 at his daughters residence after a lengthy illness. He was born in Pearson, GA to the late Aubrey and Ione McGahee Cowart. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Lakeland. He served in the United States Air Force. He retired from Slash Pine Rural Electric Association as the Director after 36 years of service. While he enjoyed working with Slash Pine his passion was tending the land farming. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Cowart.
Survivors Include: Son & Daughter-in-law, Ricky & Mildred Cowart, Lakeland, GA; Daughter & Son-in-law, Denise &Laster Harper, Lakeland, GA; 4 Grandchildren: Jimmy Royals Sandra Guest, Trent Harper, Billy Joe Cowart and Sarah Jones Lewis; 2 Great Grandchildren: Justin & Christie Jones; Sister, Katie Joe Boykin, Sun City, FL and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, November 10, 2014 in the Lakeland Chapel of Music Funeral Services with burial to follow in Empire Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 9, 2014 from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Sympathy may be expressed online at www.musicfuneralservices.com .
