Jimmy C. Davis, Sr. – 84
Of Lake Park, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 27, 2025, at Langdale Hospice House. He was born on June 30, 1940, in Metter, Georgia, to the late Jim Davis and Louise Warren Davis.
Raised in a hardworking family as sharecroppers, Jimmy learned the value of perseverance and dedication at a young age. Throughout his life, he embodied the traits of a caring, selfless person, always putting the needs of others before his own. Jimmy worked alongside his brothers as partners in W.G. Davis Construction, where they built both a business and a legacy together. Later, he concluded his working career at Commercial Banking Company, where he contributed his efforts in the maintenance department.
Jimmy was a proud and active member of the Lake Park Lions Club, where he served as a charter member and held the honor of President. He was also one of Santa’s helpers visiting many churches and spreading the Christmas Spirit to others. His love for his community was unwavering, and he found deep joy in helping others. One of his greatest passions was spending quality time with his family. Whether it was attending the many events of his children or grandchildren, Jimmy was always present and engaged, a testament to his love for family—until his battle with dementia made it more difficult for him to do so. Jimmy was an avid Lowndes County Vikings supporter. He proudly escorted his daughters and granddaughters to the father daughter dance every year.
As a devoted member of Sardis Baptist Church, Jimmy served as Head Deacon for many years, offering guidance and support to his fellow congregants. His commitment to his faith was evident in every aspect of his life.
Though Mr. Jimmy’s presence may no longer be felt in the way it once was, his legacy will live on in the countless lives he touched. He will always be remembered for being a practical jokester, his kindness, generosity, and unwavering love for his family and community.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Jack Davis and son-in-law, Stephen Cain.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Carolyn Reardon Davis of Lake Park, Georgia; his children: Jimmy C. Davis, Jr of Lake Park, Georgia, Connie Sandlin (Don) of Lake Park, Georgia, Julie Cain of Valdosta, Georgia: grandchildren: Tabitha Barber (Jason), Jim Davis-Johnson (Rickey), Jessie Pruitt (Michael), Heather Strickland, Ashley Strickland; great grandchildren: Paisley Barber, Maris Barber, Merida Barber, Hudson Pruitt, Avery Pruitt and Rhett Strickland; brother, Johnny Davis (Linda) of Metter, Georgia; sister-in-law, Andi Davis of Lake Park, Georgia; many special nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members that are loved dearly.
