Of Valdosta, Georgia passed away on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at Pruitt Health. He was born to the late Walter James Lamar and Susie Mae Perry on September 8, 1932, in Gordon, Alabama. Joel served in the military before transitioning to the reserves. Afterward, he pursued a career in civil service as an AC technician. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Gloria Ann Lamar; son Walter Lamar; brother, Nathanial Lamar; sister, Josephine Butler; sister-in-law, Lucy Lamar; brother, Solomon Lamar; brother-in-law, Roy Taylor.
Survivors include his daughter, Crystal M. Lamar; grandson, Walter Lamar, Jr. and Tremaine Lamar; granddaughters: Tonique Lamar, Ashley Ingram, and Brianna Ingram; stepson, Tony Jenkins (Tiffany); stepson, Zack Clark; stepdad, Ronnie Clark; God granddaughter, Serinity Jenkins; sorrowing nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
