John B. "Benny" Pafford

John B. "Benny" Pafford, Sr. – 73

Of Lakeland passed away Friday, April 11, 2008 at South Georgia Medical Center after a brief illness as the result of a motor vehicle accident. He was born on October 14, 1934 to the late Leo & Georgia "Dump" Pafford in Lanier County where he lived all of his life. He served our country in the United States Army in 1956 – 1957. He was a rural mail carrier for 20 years and operated the Pafford Gas & Oil Service Station for 14 years. His love of the outdoors led to his farming and making Gran's Cane Syrup after retirement. He was an avid hunter who loved training bird and hound dogs alike. He was a lifelong member of Unity United Methodist Church in Lanier County. He was preceded in death by Brothers, Billy "Fuzz" Pafford and Bobby "Boose" Pafford, Great Grandson, Levin Pafford and Nephew, Bryan Pafford.

Survivors Include: The love of his life, his wife of 54 1/2 years, Jean Hepburn Pafford, Lakeland; Daughter & Son-in-law, Karin Pafford and Mark Roland, Valdosta; 2 Sons & Daughter-in-law, Ben & Janet Pafford, Lakeland, James E. "Jim" Pafford, Lakeland; Grandchildren: Marcus Roland, Katharine Roland, James Roland, John Pafford, Bob Pafford, David Pafford and Hunter Pafford; Great Grandchildren: Harrison Pafford, Kaitlyn Pafford, Madison Pafford, Taylor Pafford, Ashley Pafford and Gabriel Pafford; Nephew, Tim Pafford, Douglas, Ga; Sister-in-law, Nancy Pafford, Charleston, SC; Aunt & Uncles, Lucious Henry "Son" & Margie Lee, Jasper, FL, Arthur Herndon, Jr., Lakeland, Mary Alice Lee, Lakeland and a number of other relatives.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, April 14, 2008 in the Unity United Methodist Church with the Rev. Tony Crosby officiating. Burial will follow in Fender Cemetery. Mr. Pafford will be placed in the church 1 hour prior to services. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 8:00 PM Sunday Night, April 13, 2008 at the funeral home.
