John Alton Douglas, age 78, of Nashville, Georgia, passed away on Friday, August 2, 2024, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on September 2, 1945, in Albuquerque, New Mexico to the late Franklin Brunell and Ruth Homas (Joseph) Douglas. John served his country honorably in the United States Army for over 26 years. He was passionate about golf and a member of the Par Busters Golf Group at Stone Creek. He played semi-professional golf and competed on the Texas Senior PGA Tour, where he celebrated three holes-in-one during his career. In addition to golf, John enjoyed bowling and participated in a bowling tour across the Western U.S. He also inherited his mother’s musical talent and sang in the church choir. A devout individual, John was actively involved in his church and cherished times of spiritual revival. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Jane Ann Gary.
His survivors include his loving wife of 48 years, Linda Lee (Faulkner) Douglas of Nashville, Georgia; son, Darwin Jay Douglas of Keller, Texas; son Jeremy Wayne Douglas and wife Linsay of Valdosta, Georgia; son Brent Adam Douglas of Euless, Texas; 11 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; brother, James Earl Douglas of South Bend, Indiana and brother, Dale Stewart Douglas of Noblesville, Indiana.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Friday, August 9, 2024, at Poplar Springs Missionary Baptist Church in Nashville, Georgia with Rev. J.W. Dukes III and Rev. Mike Royals officiating. The burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Nashville, Georgia where full military honors will be rendered.
