John Floyd Gilbert II
July 18, 1945 – June 4, 2025
Of Valdosta, Georgia, passed away peacefully on June 4, 2025, at the age of 79. He was born on July 18, 1945, in Corpus Christi, Texas, to the late John and Gloria Gilbert. John was a lifelong salesman whose ability to connect with others left a lasting impression on everyone he met. He had a vast knowledge of the Bible, which he studied deeply throughout his life, and his legendary sense of humor brought joy and laughter to family, friends, and even strangers. He enjoyed reading, watching sports, and was a devoted fan of the Dallas Cowboys. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Patricia.
He is survived by his children: Janna Richards of Blue Ridge, Georgia; John Gilbert of Valdosta, Georgia; and Rebecca Hutton of Cumming, Georgia. He also leaves behind five grandchildren: Joshua, Dylan, Zach, Nicholas, and Vanessa, as well as his former spouses, Betty Gilbert of Cumming, Georgia, and Della Belt of Covington, Georgia.
Per his wishes, John will be cremated with no final farewell services held. John will be remembered as a loyal friend, a man of faith and wit, and someone whose wisdom, laughter, and love will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
