John Elwood “Johnny” Guthrie, Jr. – 71
Of Ray City, GA passed away on Saturday, July 25, 2020 at River Brook Health Care Center in Homerville, GA. He was born on August 26, 1948 to the late John E. and Madge (Sellers) Guthrie and was a long-term resident of Ray City. Johnny was a graduate of Berrien High School, Class of 1965. He received a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Valdosta State University in 1970. Johnny formerly worked with the State of Georgia Department of Human Services, Division of Family and Children Services as a Director of Child Protective Services. He was a caring and trusting person who looked for the good in everyone. He was concerned for the wellbeing of others and helped those less fortunate than himself whenever he could.
Survivors include: Special friend, Mirriam Crosby of Ray City, GA; Cousin, Patricia Diane Sizemore and husband, James J. of Ray City, GA.
