John Hyams, Jr., 73 of Navarre, Florida passed away at this resident Monday, April 27, 2009. He was born February 20, 1936, in Ashville, North Carolina to John Fred Hyams and Thelma Lewis Hyams. John was retired from the Air Force where he served 23 years. He was a Vietnam veteran. While serving he flew on the B-66 and C-141s. He retired at Moody Air Force Base which was also the first base he served. He was also a forty year Life Member of Hillcrest Masonic Lodge at Shaw Air Force Base in South Carolina. He is survived by his wife Elyse Hyams, his son John C. Hyams and wife Janet of Valdosta, Georgia; three daughters Barbara Creasy of Valdosta, Georgia; Misty Mullis and husband Ken of Byron, Georgia; Jorinda Jennings and husband Tommy of Byron, Georgia; two granddaughters Cindy Hyams Schostag and husband Matt of Navarre, Florida; Kelly Lynn Hyams of Valdosta, Georgia; 5 grandsons Brandon Ray Creasy and wife Brandi of Valdosta, Georgia; Jason Charles Creasy of Valdosta, Georgia; Jonathan Kyle Mullis, Kevin Blake Mullis, and Kolton Thomas Mullis all of Byron, Georgia; 1 great granddaughter Hailey Gabriella Creasy and 2 great grandsons, Cody Charles Hall and Cameron Michael Hall both of Valdosta, Georgia. He is also survived by his two brothers Butch Hyams and wife Delphia and Edwin Hyams both of Ashville, North Carolina; four sisters Freda Nicholson and husband Nick, Linda Smith and husband John, Peggy Massa and Carol Brown. He is preceded in death by his mother and father and his sister Virginia Lee Knoakes.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, May 1, 2009 in Riverview Memorial Gardens with Ken Mullis officiating. Full Military honors will be rendered.
