John Davis Manion – 82 of Twin Lakes passed away Saturday, January 9, 2021 at his residence peacefully surrounded by his wife & daughters. He was born on October 7, 1938 in Chicago, IL to the late Cecil James & Edna Mae (Davis) Manion. John was raised in Laporte, Indiana, graduated from Laporte High School and then joined the United States Airforce. He was a Crew Chief on B52 Bombers during the Vietnam War and served for 14 years. Following his Air Force service, he began an extensive career in the restaurant industry as a regional manager and supervisory consultant for over 45 years in the Southeastern United States. He resided on Lake Balboa for over 35 years. John was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. His Christianity was a priority through radio evangelism and ministry to others. He was a dedicated Hoosier but a transplanted Southern Gentleman who never met a stranger. John and Cynthia have enjoyed international travel and have spent the last 6 years road tripping throughout the United States and Canada. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Brian Allen Manion. Survivors Include: Wife of 46 years: Cynthia McLeod Manion, Twin Lakes; 2 Daughters & Sons-in-law: Patty & Roger Cox, Gainesville, FL, Robin & Layton Dees, Twin Lakes; 3 Grandchildren: Seth Cox, Hayden Cox and Gentry Dees; Brother-in-law & Sister-in-law: Mac & Mary Ann McLeod, Twin Lakes, GA and a number of nieces and nephews.
