John Lucius Register J. L. 81
Passed away Monday night, May 24, 2004 after a long decline in health. He was a native of Dupont, GA where he lived most of his life. He was the son of the late John Martin and Catherine Elizabeth Register. As a young man, J. L. left school in order to work and help support his family. In World War II, he was called by his country to go to war for America. This he did without hesitation. He served in the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theater of Operation in New Guineau. After the war he returned to Dupont and Clinch County. He resumed his school work and completed his education. He graduated from Homerville High School and Farm School in 1947. J. L. worked in many vocations in his life. In the 1950s and 1960s he owned and operated a timber production business. He was a retired school bus driver, state and county employee of thirty years. On many occasions he drove the Clinch County athletic teams to away games including playoff games in Macon, GA. He was a farmer on his land in Western Clinch County for many years. He worked with Standard Container in Homerville, GA for several years and a car salesman with Homerville Motor Company for awhile. He was a former elected member of the Dupont Council. He was a member of Disabled American Veterans. J. L. was a kind and generous man all his life. He was a very family oriented person who loved his family very much. He shared his life, his time, and his wealth with his family, his friends and the public. He loved to help others. He is loved, appreciated and remembered.
Preceding Mr. Register in death were his parents, and sister, Louise Fender Caldwell.

Brother and Sister-In-Law Herbert Edward & Alva Lee. Register Dupont, GA
Four nieces and four nephews, seven great nieces and one great nephew.
Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday May 27, 2004 in the Lakeland Chapel of Music Funeral Services with burial following in North Cemetery.
