Johnny Lee Stalvey “Pepa” – 84
Of Hahira, Georgia passed away on Thursday, April 11, 2024 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on August 28, 1939 in Brooks County, Georgia to the late E.J. Stalvey and Clara Newton Stalvey. He worked as an electrician with Weyerhauser Corporation for 45 ½ years. Mr. Johnny served multiple terms as City Councilman and 3 terms as Mayor for the City of Hahira. He enjoyed working bees, spending time in his yard, piddling around and fishing with Mema. He also enjoyed making lemonade and funnel cakes at local festivals. He loved spending time with his dog, Miss Susie. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Karen Stalvey; grandson, Heath Taylor Cowart; daughter-in-law, Kay Stalvey; 7 brothers: Buford Stalvey, Lamar Stalvey, Lonnie Stalvey, Harry Stalvey, Gerald Stalvey, Jackie Stalvey, Jimmy Stalvey; 4 sisters: Shirley Taylor, Linda Plaire, Mary Helen Blackwell, Dorothy Avera; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Willette and Dillard Ensley.
He is survived by 3 sons: Mike Stalvey, Joe Stalvey (Joy) of Hahira, Georgia, Jeff Stalvey of Hahira, Georgia (Pam Turk of Ambrose, Georgia); daughters: Amy Tucker (Mickey) of Hahira, Georgia, Jona Pitts (Joel) of Cecil, Georgia; grandchildren: Cory Stalvey (Tonya), Zane Stalvey (Nikki), Tyler Stalvey (Destiny), Brandon Cowart (Megan), Keeley Walden (Zack), Hunter Cowart, Cole Tucker (Kaytlin), Kennly Hayes (Hannah), Taylor Rouse (Andrew), Madison Hayes and Casey Hayes; 13 great grandchildren; sister, Diane Wright of Brooks County, Georgia; brother-in-law, Jimmy Plaire of Hahira, Georgia; brother-in-law, Sonny Taylor of Hahira, Georgia and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.
A special thank you to all the nurses and staff with Hospice of South Georgia and Georgia Home Health, Douglas Medical Specialist, Pam Turk NP and Dr. Eric Anderson for all the love and care they showed Mr. Johnny and his family. Also, a special thank you to Tangela Mclowery, special caregiver that has been a blessing to Mr. Johnny and the family in his last days.
