Joseph M. “Doddy” Royals - 88
Of Lakeland passed away Friday, March 9, 2018 at his residence surrounded by his family. He was born February 2, 1930 in Berrien County, GA to the late Willie Anderson and Annie Eliza (Woods) Royals. Mr. Royals worked with Standard Container as a machine operator and was a member of Little Block Holiness Church. Mr. Royals loved fishing, working in his junkyard and watching westerns. Mr. Royals served his country proudly in the United States Army during the Korean War and also received the Purple Heart. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his daughter: Jody Royals; grandson: Austin Stone; brothers, Clifford Royals, Jimmy Royals; sister: Willie Mae Bass and Mageline Watts.
Survivors include: Wife of 62 years: Frances Royals of Lakeland, GA; 3 Daughters & Son-in-law: Sue Bennett Lakeland, Jennifer & Robert Rowe of Alapaha, GA, Lisa & Roy Stone of Lakeland, GA; Son & Daughter-in-law: Roy & Cheryl Royals of Lakeland, GA; 13 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; Brothers & Sister-in-law: Bill & Bernice Royals of Lakeland, GA and Brother-in-law: G.W. Watts of Ray City, GA
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, March 12, 2018 in the Lakeland Chapel of Music Funeral Services with burial to follow in Good Hope cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 5:00 PM Sunday, March 11, 2018 at the funeral home. Sympathy may be expressed online at
