Joseph “John” Rocheleau – 85
Of Valdosta, GA passed away on Sunday, June 30, 2019 at Langdale Hospice House after a lengthy illness. He was born on November 27, 1933 in Fitchburg, MA to the late Maurice and Rose (Roy) Rocheleau. Joseph was a United States Airforce veteran who served in the Korean War. He continued his service in the Reserves. In 1978, he began his career with the Valdosta Correctional Institute. He retired after almost 20 years of service as Captain/Chief of Security. He was the original owner of Rocheleau Hardwood Floors. When he was not working, he could be found fishing. John was a member of Azalea Masonic Lodge #716. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rosa Dukes Rocheleau; Daughter, Glenda Marie Griffin; 3 Sons, Michael Rocheleau, Keith Rocheleau & Craig Rocheleau; grandson, Ryan Rocheleau and brother, Robert Rocheleau.
Survivors include, Grandchildren, Levi Rocheleau (Devin) of Valdosta and Lucas Rocheleau of Valdosta; Great Grandson, Colton Rocheleau of Sanford, FL; Sisters, Juliette Hanson of New Port Richey, FL, Diane Werner of Norfolk, Connecticut, Jacqueline Skaret of New Port Richey, FL; Brother, Kevin Saundry of St. Augustine, FL; Step Grandchildren, Stevie McGilvray of Clyattville, Amber (Jeremy) LaMontagne of Valdosta, Bazalyn (Brent) Lewis of Kathleen, GA; Step Great Grandkids, Haley Jackson, Wesley McGilvray, Wyatt Elswick, Trystan Lewis and a number of nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, July 13, 2019 in the Valdosta Chapel of Music Funeral Services where military and masonic honors will be rendered. The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to services at the funeral home. Sympathy may be expressed online at www.musicfuneralservices.com .
