Joseph Delmar Shown, Sr.

Joseph Delmar Shown Sr, 92, formerly of Owensboro, KY passed away Tuesday, August 17th, 2010 at The Fellowship Home in Brooks County, Georgia. Delmar was born in Daviess Co., KY on July 25th, 1918. Delmar was the son of Frank and Beatrice Shown of Owensboro. He served in the Army Air Force during WWII. Delmar owned and operated Cafe Delmar for many years while raising his family in Owensboro.
Delmar was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Anna Ruth Roach Shown, his parents Frank and Beatrice Rhodes Shown, his step-mother Mamie Barnes Shown, his sisters; Ebby, Dorothy Dean, Betty Jane, and Tillie, and his brother Rip.
Surviving siblings are Mildred Duvall of Longview, TX, Martha Nell Shown of Owensboro, and Doris Jones of Owensboro.
Delmar is survived by his children, Suzanne Shown of Memphis, TN, Joe Shown Karen of Valdosta, GA, Steve Jackie Shown of Owensboro, Judy Grant of Austin, TX, Jane Miller of Conyers, GA, John Shown of Owensboro, and Rob Wynne Shown of Aransas Pass, TX; grandchildren, Tracy Nelms, Kaye Jaynes, Sara Corley, Ellen Carlo, Emily Somers, Nicole Shown, Demian Shown, Katy Grant, Blue Grant, Keely Wahl, Joey Miller, Rob Miller, Jake Shown, Amber Schexnider, Taylor Shown, and Haley Shown, and 17 great grandchildren.
A Memorial Service for Delmar will be held at Providence United Methodist Church in Brooks County, GA. on Wednesday Evening, August 18, 2010 at 8:00 PM. A funeral service will be in Owensboro, KY on Saturday at Glenn Funeral Home.

Music Funeral Service is assisting the family locally with Glenn Funeral Home handling services in Kentucky.
Delmar lived a full life crossing the paths of many. We like to think that the things he taught us while we had him will enable us to carry on and help others as we go.
