Joshua L. “Boots” Griffin, Jr. – 89

Of Barney passed away Friday, July 7, 2006 in the Colquitt Regional Center after a sudden illness. He was born in Lake Butler, Fl. to the late Joshua and Lillie Smith Griffin, Sr. Mr. Griffin served his country proudly in the United States Marine Corps during World War II which included battles in Roi-Namur, Marshall Islands, Saipan & Tinian, Marianas Island, Iwo Jima and Volcano Islands. Following his service to his country he returned to the family farm in Barney where he continued to work until his death. He was preceded in death by his wife, Eloise W. Griffin.

Survivors Include: Sons and Daughters-in-law; Joshua and Sissy Griffin, Ed and Julie Griffin and Jimmy and Dee Dee Stearman all of Barney, Daughters and Sons-in-law; Cindy and Chuck Sheffield, Hahira, Janet and Bill Edmondson, Barney, 9 Grandchildren: Taylor Griffin, Amber Sheffield, Trey Sheffield, Ben Edmondson, Patrick Sommerville, Brittney Stearman, Brianna Stearman, Daniel Griffin and Drew Griffin, Sisters and Brothers-in-law; Lois Springer, Tampa, FL, Christine and Percy Spooner, Jacksonville, FL, Constance and Warren Surrett, St. Petersburg, FL, Brothers and Sisters-in-law; Henry and Marguerite Griffin, Barney, Edsel and Faye Griffin, Barney and a number of nieces and nephews.

Graveside Services were held at 10:00 A.M. Monday, July 10, 2006 in the Campground Cemetery where full military honors were rendered. No formal visitation will be held.

Music Funeral Services of Valdosta is serving the Griffin family.
