Joyce Elaine Griner

Joyce Elaine Griner, age 83, of Lakeland, Georgia, passed away on Friday, July 3, 2026. She was born on February 27, 1943, in Valdosta, GA to loving parents, Rossie Lamar Corbitt and Marie Sirmans Corbitt.

She was the 1961 salutatorian graduate of Lanier County High School. Upon her graduation from Valdosta Business School, she began her career in healthcare administration with Independent Life Insurance Company and then with Berrien County Hospital. She then began working with Dr. Grady Williams. She transitioned into the home health care field with ABC Home Health. Prior to her retirement, she traveled throughout the country establishing home health care offices.

She served as president of the K & E Community Club following in the footsteps her mother and her grandmother Della Patten Corbitt. As a member of the Lanier County Historical Society, she served as both vice-president and president. She served as president of the Family Council of the Berrien County Nursing Center. She was a member of Lakeland United Methodist Church where she married her husband on April 12, 1964. She was an advocate for families throughout her career and her volunteer efforts. She instilled this focus of serving her family and her community in her children and grandchildren.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Fay Carlton Griner; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Franklin Pierce Griner and Ruby Harrell Griner.

Joyce is survived by her loving children, Brian Carlton Griner (Pam) of Valdosta, GA and Catherine Elaine Griner Hadsock (Greg) of Nashville, GA; grandchildren, Charlotte Louise Griner, Carolyn Elise Griner, Harrison Ross Griner, Juliana Marie Hadsock, Melba Claire Hadsock, Deven Hadsock and Shane Hadsock and numerous cousins, and extended family member and countless friends.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM, on Monday, July 6, 2026, in the Chapel of Music Funeral Services, Lakeland with burial to follow in Westview Cemetery, Nashville, Georgia. A visitation will be held on Sunday, July 5, 2026, from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the funeral home.

Flowers are welcomed or a memorial gift may be made to Berrien County Department of Family and Children Services to support Christmas and school supply drive for Foster Children which Joyce loved to support or to a charity or church your choice.
