Joyce "Joy" Johnson

Joyce “Joy” Johnson – 63 of Valdosta passed away on November 21, 2021 in the Langdale Hospice House. She was born on September 9, 1958 to the late Raymond Sitton and Betty Jean Cowan (Jim) in Bartow, FL. She worked with Georgia Mountain Water as a secretary for over 20 years of service. She enjoyed her time, as a gardener, working for various nurseries. She was the “DTM” band mother and attended every show, unless she was taking care of grandchildren. She was also known as “Mrs. Claus” for 25 years for friends and family. While she enjoyed various things in her life, by far the most important thing was her family, especially her boys and grandchildren.
Survivors include: Husband: Dan “The Man” Johnson, Valdosta, Georgia; 3 Sons: Daniel Johnson (Iris), Valdosta, GA, Brad “Butch” Johnson (Pam Nelson), Valdosta, GA, Todd Johnson (Marissa), Valdosta, GA; 6 Grandchildren: Blaine Johnson, Derek Nelson, Daniel B. Johnson, Sofia Nelson, Cammren Johnson & Colton Johnson; Sister: Judy Barrett (William), Valdosta, GA; Special Niece: Shannon Maine (Sherman), Valdosta, GA and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, November 27, 2021 in the Valdosta Chapel of Music Funeral Services with burial following at Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Friday evening, November 26, 2021 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Special thanks to the staff at Langdale Hospice House for their care and compassion during Joy’s final days.
