Joyce Keene Vandiviere

Of Lakeland, passed away Tuesday, October 28, 2008 at South Georgia Medical Center after a brief illness. She was born May 9, 1928 in Thomaston, Georgia to the late Tobe & Annie Love Holloway Rogers. She graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in Thomaston, Georgia. She received her Associated Degree in Teaching from GA Southwestern, Bachelors of Science and Masters Degree from Valdosta State University, and Reading Specialist from University of Georgia. She received her degrees while raising her four children. She retired from the Lanier County School System after 31 years of teaching. She was a member of the Retired Teachers Society, Delta Kappa Gamma, and Red Hat Society of Lakeland. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lakeland where she taught the Homemaker's Sunday School Class. She is preceded in death by her husbands, W. H. Keene and William M. Red Vandiviere and grand daughter Sara Keene.
