J.P. Morgan, 85, of Nashville, Georgia, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Birmingham, Alabama, he was the son of the late Ollon W. Morgan and Janave Huffstutler Morgan.
J.P. devoted many years of his life to a career as a skilled painter with Ford Motor Company, where his craftsmanship and work ethic were well respected. Following his time at Ford, he continued his dedication to service by working as a school bus driver for four years with the Henry County Board of Education, safely transporting students and forming connections within his community.
Beyond his professional life, J.P. found deep joy in playing the guitar and singing, a lifelong passion that brought him peace and enriched the lives of those around him.
In addition to his parents, J.P. was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Jo Morgan; his brothers, Roger Morgan, Clyde Morgan, and Charles Morgan; his sisters: Glenda Hale and Geraldine Myers; sister-in-law, Dottie Morgan; and brother-in-law, Houston Brown.
He is survived by his wife, Myrtice Morgan of Nashville, Georgia; son, Keith Morgan (Vickie) of Oliver Springs, Tennessee; daughter, Lisa Jones (Chris) of Oliver Springs, Tennessee; stepdaughter, Sandra “Scooter” Robinson of Nashville, Georgia; stepson, Michael Robinson (Lori Stalvey) of Hahira, Georgia; brother, Bill Morgan of Atlanta, Georgia; brother, Edsol Morgan (Ann) of Atlanta, Georgia; brother, Wayne Morgan (Pat) of Tifton, Georgia; sister, Anita Vaughn (Ronnie) of Tifton, Georgia; Grandchildren: Scott Morgan (Hailey), Wayne Morgan (Breanna), Brandon Jones (Tabitha), Summer Jones, Peyton Jones, Austin Jones (Ali), Katie McClure and Chelsey Miller (Jacob), Brett Haines, Julie Robinson, Garth Robinson and Blaine Robinson; Great grandchildren: Jacob Morgan, Luke Morgan, Norah “Squeaky” Jones, Natalie Morgan, Elliott Morgan, Courtney Miller, Jr. Hopkins, Jada Robinson, Lawson Haines, Jaylin Robinson, and Desiree Robinson; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Thursday, July 17, 2025 at Music Funeral Services of Lakeland. A funeral service will be held at 12:30 PM on Tuesday, July 22, 2025 at Sharp Funeral Home in Oliver Springs, Tennessee with burial to follow in Anderson Memorial Gardens in Clinton, Tennessee. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 11:30 AM until 12:30 AM on Tuesday, July 22, 2025 at Sharp Funeral Home.
