Junior Palmer, age 95, of Ray City, passed away on Sunday, December 28, 2025, at Berrien Nursing Center. He was born in Pearson, Georgia to the late Dilborn and Pearlie (Browning) Palmer. Junior was a hardworking man whose life was defined by his love for honest work and the simple joys of everyday living. For many years, he worked as a heavy equipment operator in the construction industry with Boyette Stumping, where he was known for his strong work ethic, steady hands, and willingness to put in a long day’s work. Junior took great pride in what he did and found purpose in staying busy and getting things done.
When he wasn’t working, Junior found peace in the outdoors. He enjoyed fishing, spending quiet moments by the water, and taking life at an unhurried pace. He was rarely seen without his overalls—a familiar and comforting sight to those who knew him—reflecting the practical, humble way he lived his life. He was a talented musician who enjoyed playing the mandolin and singing Bluegrass and Gospel music. Above all, Junior simply loved to work; it was part of who he was and how he showed his care for his family and those around him.
Junior will be remembered for his strong spirit, kind heart, and the steady example he set through a life of dedication and simplicity. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving wife of over 60 years, Mary Belle Palmer (Suggs); his son, Terry Alan Palmer; and his siblings, Jake Palmer, J.L. Palmer, and Polly Pruitt.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Pam Palmer of Ray City, Georgia; five grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
A graveside memorial service will be held at 2:00pm, Saturday, January 3, 2026, at Beaver Dam Cemetery in Ray City, Georgia.
