Of Valdosta, GA passed away Thursday, April 20, 2017 at Select Specialty Hospital in Tallahassee, FL. She was born on June 20, 1951 in Vandalia, IL to the late Lloyd Silas Ward and Bettie Jean Stone. She enjoyed playing cards and was an avid golfer and bowler. Karen and her husband, Dale, were the proprietors of Hi Top Bowl in Highland, IL for 15 years. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Dr. Theodore Sandow and her niece, Kristen Utlaut.
Survivors include: Husband of 31 years, Dale Stanhaus of Valdosta, GA; Daughter, Betsey Yoder-Sugg of Greenville, IL; Daughter & Son-in-law, Katey & Jonathon Brown of Valdosta, GA; Sister, Patricia Sandow of Lake Quivira, KS; Sister & Brother-in-law, Jane & Chip Berger of Brownstown, IL; Brother-in-law, Bernard & Barb Stanhaus of New Baden, IL; Grandchildren: Christian Jean, Alexandria, Jude, Carson and Daniel; Nephews: Mark Utlaut, David and Amy Rubin, Brandy and John Kessel, Tess Stanhaus, Brian & Jane Stanhaus; Numerous great nieces, nephews and extended family members.
As per her wishes she will be cremated and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in Highland, IL. Messages of sympathy may be expressed online at www.musicfuneralservices.com .
