Of Valdosta formerly of Owensboro, KY passed away Sunday, June 8, 2008 at the Langdale Place. She was born on February 17, 1922 in Daviess County, Kentucky to the late John and Lula Varble Dodd. She retired in 1984 as secretary to the pastor of Third Baptist Church. She was formerly member of Bellevue Baptist Church in Owensboro and a member of Covenant Baptist Church in Valdosta, GA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Cummings on July 24, 2006, by a son, Dana Louis Cummings in 1956, a daughter, Gail Ann Cummings Chandler in March 2005, by her brother, John G. Dodd on June 9, 2000 and by his sister, Cornelia Dodd Deusner.
She is survived by a son, David Lee Cummings and his wife, Martha of Valdosta, GA: four grandchildren, Ian Chandler of Paducah, KY and Robert Cumming, Rachel Cummings and Daniel Cummings all of Valdosta; two great grandchildren; once niece and one nephew.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, June 15, 2008 in the Valdosta Chapel of Music Funeral Services. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Covenant Baptist Church, 98 Garden Drive, Valdosta, GA. 31602.
