Kathryn Loretta Cox

October 13, 1921 — December 12, 2009

Of Lakeland passed away Saturday December 12, 2009 morning in Langdale Hospice House in Valdosta after a lengthy illness. She was born October 13, 1921 in Lanier County to the late Love Whitfield and Rosa Lee Carter Jackson. She was preceded in death by her husband William L. Bill Cox, and her son Captain Donald Cox with the Valdosta Police Department, brothers L.W. Jackson and J. B Jackson. She attended Abraham Baldwin College in Tifton, receiving her bachelor’s degree from Georgia Women’s College in Milledgeville, GA, and her master’s degree from the University of Florida becoming a true Gator fan. Education was very important to her and she dedicated life to this cause. Before retiring after 38 years in the education field teaching children much more than was in the books. She taught about life and how to love one another. She was blessed with the opportunity to teach every grade 1st through 12th. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Lakeland, GA.

Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 P.M Tuesday, December 15, 2009 in the First Baptist Church of Lakeland with burial to follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends this evening December 14, 2009 from 6:00 to 8:00 at the funeral home
